Danièle Bourget, flute
Danièle Bourget, fluteWith a first prize in flute and chamber music from the Conservatoire de music du Québec, and at the Canadian Music Competition and a second prize at the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal Competition, Danièle Bourget is a very active musician on the Montreal scene. Since her training with the Orchestre des Jeunes du Québec and performances in numerous programs within the Début series, she has been awarded several grants to enter famous international competitions, and has been very busy. A founding member of Quintessence and Quatuor Linos, she has been guest soloist with a variety of ensembles, among which Les Violons du Roy, La Chapelle de Montréal, I Musici de Montréal, l'Orchestre symphonique de Laval, l'Orchestre symphonique de Trois-Rivières, and l'Orchestre de Radio-Canada. She is flute with Ensemble Pentaèdre, and also teaches at Conservatoire de musique de Trois-Rivières, and at Université du Québec à Montréal (UQÀM). She still performs regularly with major Montreal orchestras, such as l'Orchestre des Grands Ballets Canadiens, l'Orchestre métropolitain du Grand Montréal, Les Violons du Roy and the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal.

Martin Carpentier, clarinet
Martin Carpentier, clarinetBorn in 1967, Martin Carpentier studies clarinet with Émilio Iacurto at McGill University and graduates with Distinction in Interpretation. He then wins the position of solo clarinet with l'Orchestre des jeunes du Québec. In 1992 he studies with Karl Leister (Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra) and then obtains his Masters Degree in Interpretation from Université de Montréal under the direction of André Moison. A clarinetist in great demand, Martin Carpentier is a member of the Nouvel Ensemble Moderne (NEM) and of l'Ensemble Pentaèdre de Montréal. He also performs regularly with l'Orchestre Métropolitain du Grand Montréal, the Société de musique contemporaine du Québec, l'Opéra de Montréal, Les Violons du Roy and I Musici de Montréal and has recorded CDs with the Société des Vents de Montréal, Pentaèdre and the NEM. Martin teaches clarinet at Université du Québec à Montréal (UQÀM) and Université de Montréal.

Normand Forget, oboe
Normand Forget, oboeStudies in oboe at Le Collège Lionel-Groulx de Sainte-Thérèse and at McGill University led Normand Forget to the Conservatory of Music at Oberlin College, USA, where he won the Artistry in Oboe Performance prize. A founding member of Pentaèdre and of le Nouvel Ensemble Moderne (NEM), he performed many world premieres and has toured extensively in Europe, Asia and the United States. A dedicated chamber musician, he is a guest with numerous musical groups as well as performing regularly with Les Violins du Roy, I Musici de Montréal, l'Orchestre symphonique de Québec and l'Orchestre Métropolitain du Grand Montréal. The musical projectshe developped for Pentaèdre led him to write chamber music versions of major classical pieces of the repertoire, among which Die Kindertotenlieder and Des Knaben Wunderhorn by Gustav Mahler and Die Winterreise by Franz Schubert. Teaching is an important part of his life. He teaches oboe and chamber music at McGill University and at Université du Québec à Montréal (UQÀM).

Mathieu Lussier, bassoon
Mathieu Lussier, bassoonA renowned bassoonist, Mathieu Lussier is much in demand in North America, particularly in baroque music, He performs as guest soloist with such ensembles as Les Violons Du Roy (Québec), l'Ensemble Arion (Montreal), Tafelmusic Baroque Orchestra (Toronto), Boston Early Music Festival Orchestra and with Cleveland Baroque Orchestra "Apollo's Fire". He teaches baroque bassoon at McGill University and modern bassoon at Université du Québec à Montréal. Mathieu Lussier is dedicated to chamber music, and is a member of Ensemble Pentaèdre, Caliban Quartet of Bassoonists of Toronto and Musica Franca. Among his numerous recordings as a soloist, are the Concerto for Oboe and Bassoon in G major by Vivaldi, the first recording of Graupner's Concerto in B flat major, and a CD of Michel Corrette's music with "Les Voix mumaines" duet. He also recorded a whole CD of works for bassoon and strings by François Devienne and a CD with Sonates pour deux basses by Joseph Bodin de Boismortier with Musica Franca. Recently released is a CD of concertos by Vivaldi, recorded with Claire Guimond and Arion.

As a composer, Mathieu Lussier's works are performed in North America, Europe and Australia. BASSANGO and VALSTANGO, for bassoons quartet, were recorded by Caliban Quartet from Toronto for the BIS international Norwegian label. A commission from Les Idées heureuses, Promenade à Venise premiered in 2003 in Montreal. Old Spanish from Cuba was acclaimed when premiered in 2004 by Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra from Toronto. His 5 caprices pour basson, recorded by bassoonist Nadina Mackie, were studied in a masterclass at the famous Curtis Institute in Philadelphia.

Louis-Philippe Marsolais, horn
Louis-Philippe Marsolais, hornAfter playing as solo horn with the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Orchestra and associate solo horn with the Orchestre symphonique de Québec, Louis-philippe Marsolais is now dedicated to performing solo and chamber music. Excellent recitalist, concert and chamber music musician, he performs regularly in North America, Europe and Asia. He was awarded three prizes at the prestigious Munich Competition in 2005, and also won numerous first prizes in national and international competitions, among which the Geneva Competition and the Mozart International Competition of Rovereto (Italy) in 2004, the Concours International de Cor de Trévoux (France) in 2000. As a soloist, he has performed with various symphony orchestras, such as Montréal, Québec, Trois-Rivières, Longueuil, the Munich Chamber Orchestra, the Geneva Chamber Orchestra and the Haydn Orchestra in Bolzano (Italy). At the Prix d'Europe 2001, his interest for contemporary music won him first prize from the Canadian Music Center, awarded to the best performance of a canadian work. Since then, he premièred several works by Canadian, Swiss, German and French composers, for solo horn, horn and tape and small chamber ensembles. Louis-Philippe Marsolais' first CD, dedicated to German romantic music was released in 2006 (Oehms Classics lable).
